The Past and Present of Foundation Courses

Foundation courses started in early 90’s and now these courses are well known at universities of the United Kingdom, Malta and Cyprus.  Foundation courses usually last one or two years. This course is particularly beneficial for all those who want to enrol in a bachelor’s program. Foundation courses are the main entrance doors to the bachelor’s level courses in the United Kingdom. These courses relate to the university level education in Art and Design.
The curriculum of foundation courses emphasizes the practical aspects of subjects, but does not stay working on core skills in length. The core skills are more commonly taught together with   design-  and art – related subjects . As core skills are mainly offered by short courses, more specific skills are left for the different undergraduate degree or and graduate degree programs.
The original function of short courses however has been shifted by now at many universities, due to the demand of subject specific courses. Nevertheless, demand for foundation and short courses  in Britain and nearby countries  still keeps them busy .  Considering their preparatory  benefits these courses are greatly influential , and compared to the other introductory courses, they are both highly practical and suitable for students who wish to  qualify for degree courses without further studies. These courses pave a way of entry to the art degree courses in universities and colleges.
The short courses are an alternate to the A-level route courses in the UK. As an investment, the foundation study courses open a wide range of opportunities for a fruitful career. Foundation programs set a base for the higher level courses and give a platform for greater accomplishment in studies as well as career goals.
